T4tP History

Theatre 4the People was founded in 2010 by Isaac Byrne and Dan Kitrosser with the desire to create new immersive theater that was financially accessible to audiences. In 2020, with Isaac Byrne and Joshua Rose as co-artistic leaders, T4tP began the challenging work of creating space for theatre artists and audiences in a pandemic. Then, the LARK Play Development Center closed its doors. The Sundance Theatre Lab ended. The Lincoln Center Director Lab ceased. The Humana Festival disappeared. Everywhere spaces that had valiantly shepherded new plays into existence were shutting down. In response to the sudden lack of support and developmental opportunities for theatre artists and new plays, T4tP opened @TheBarn Residency at Deckel Farm in the Hudson Valley. The residency offers space and resources to playwrights developing new work, as well as a peaceful reprieve for artists to recharge their creative energy. In addition, T4tP is developing new plays and performances for production.

This is a new chapter for T4tP and an ambitious new venture with awesome responsibilities.

We’re working.

We’re creating.

We’re hoping you’ll be a part of this new journey with us.
